Healing Sexually Betrayed Men And Boys

When Men Betray by Richard B. Gartner, Healing Sexually Betrayed Men And Boys Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Healing Sexually Betrayed Men And Boys books, Healing Sexually Betrayed Men and Boys: Treatment for Sexual Abuse, Assault, and Trauma is the new authoritative source for treatment of sexually victimized men and boys. Male victims and survivors of sexual trauma lived in shadow until the turn of the 21st century, when scandal after scandal about the sexual abuse of boys and men shed light on their suffering. These men and boys require different treatment roadmaps than their female counterparts. Yet there is little in the professional literature to help a clinician work with sexually traumatized boys and men. Richard B. Gartner is a seasoned psychologist/psychoanalyst who has worked therapeutically with sexually abused men for over three decades. He is a clinician, advocate, teacher, lecturer, and nationally and internationally recognized expert on the subject. Dr. Gartner’s classic book, Betrayed as Boys: Psychodynamic Treatment of Sexually Abused Men, is one of the few written to guide clinicians. Now, nearly two decades after writing that groundbreaking volume, he follows up on his earlier work. Healing Sexually Abused Men and Boys, together with its companion volume, Understanding the Sexual Betrayal of Boys and Men, is a thorough, comprehensive guide to learning about and healing male victims and survivors. Dr. Gartner has invited a group of experts to write about specific problems faced by these boys and men. Specialists from the psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, trauma, and legal worlds fill in the details about a wide range of interconnected subjects related to the complex reverberations of male sexual trauma. Healing Sexually Betrayed Men and Boys covers such diverse topics as: therapy with young sexually traumatized boys; the aftermath for men who were raped as adults ; covert seduction of boys and its aftereffects; treatment for substance addictions and sexual compulsions; couples work with male survivors and their partners or spouses; bodywork with male survivors; treatment for male veterans who suffered sexual trauma in the military; profiling sexual predators and working with survivors who have also been sexual predators. This book is a valuable resource for clinicians at every level of training. With strategies for how survivors can build support networks and descriptions of clinical, familial, and community-based treatments, Healing Sexually Betrayed Men and Boys is essential reading for clinicians of all theoretical persuasions who work with male sexual abuse survivors. Filling in gaps in the relatively scant literature on the subject, it will also help sexually abused or assaulted men themselves understand what is available to them.

Betrayed As Boys

When Men Betray by Richard B. Gartner, Betrayed As Boys Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Betrayed As Boys books, More than one in six boys in the United States is sexually victimized by the age of 16. Yet in the growing professional literature on child sexual abuse, few books focus specifically on the experience of victimized boys and men. This much-needed volume examines how sexual betrayal affects boys and the ways they carry this hurt into adulthood. Blending psychoanalytic understanding with insights from trauma-oriented theory and practice, Richard B. Gartner presents effective strategies for meeting the unique therapeutic needs of men with sexual abuse histories. Filled with evocative clinical material, the book draws readers into the direct experience of these clients, the therapists who work with them, and the constantly shifting relational world they inhabit.

Humanism Betrayed

When Men Betray by Graham Good, Humanism Betrayed Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Humanism Betrayed books, In Humanism Betrayed Graham Good offers a defence of liberal humanism against the illiberal trends, political and intellectual, that dominate today's university. He uses the McEwen Report episode at the University of British Columbia to illustrate the current political climate in universities, showing how due process was neglected in favour of ideological inquisition. The intellectual trends Good discusses include what he calls the New Sectarianism, which rejects individuality in favour of collective identities based on race, gender, and sexual preference; Presentism, which rejects the notion of history as a continuous narrative in favour of seeing the past as interpretable in any way that suits the political interests of the present; and a Ahermeneutic of suspicion, in which literary texts are seen as masks for discreditable political motives. Good demonstrates that these trends culminate in the prison-like Acarceral vision of Michel Foucault and his followers: the view that culture is ideology and that culture does not free humans but incarcerates them. Good contrasts this view with the liberal vision of culture and society represented by Northrop Frye, concluding with an analysis of the relationship between anti-humanist theory among academics and the managerial practices of university administrations, which, he argues, neglect or reject basic humanistic values such as free individuality, aesthetic greatness, and autonomous inquiry.

Betraying Big Brother

When Men Betray by Leta Hong Fincher, Betraying Big Brother Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Betraying Big Brother books, A feminist movement clashing with China's authoritarian government. Featured in the Washington Post and Times Higher Education. On the eve of International Women's Day in 2015, the Chinese government arrested five feminist activists and jailed them for thirty-seven days. The Feminist Five became a global cause c l bre, with Hillary Clinton speaking out on their behalf and activists inundating social media with #FreetheFive messages. But the Five are only symbols of a much larger feminist movement of civil rights lawyers, labor activists, performance artists, and online warriors prompting an unprecedented awakening among China's educated, urban women. In Betraying Big Brother, journalist and scholar Leta Hong Fincher argues that the popular, broad-based movement poses the greatest challenge to China's authoritarian regime today. Through interviews with the Feminist Five and other leading Chinese activists, Hong Fincher illuminates both the difficulties they face and their "joy of betraying Big Brother," as one of the Feminist Five wrote of the defiance she felt during her detention. Tracing the rise of a new feminist consciousness now finding expression through the #MeToo movement, and describing how the Communist regime has suppressed the history of its own feminist struggles, Betraying Big Brother is a story of how the movement against patriarchy could reconfigure China and the world.

Download God Betrayed books, God Betrayed explains: (1) the biblical principles concerning government, church, and separation of church and state which one needs to know in order to understand the First Amendment and why it was adopted; (2) the history of the theological warfare in the colonies that eventually resulted in the adoption of the First Amendment; (3) how and why, soon after the ratification of the Constitution and the First Amendment, many churches subjected themselves to the state; (4) how the Supreme Court has used the First Amendment religion clause to remove God from practically all civil government affairs; (5) how civil government entices many churches to abandon their Supernatural and First Amendment freedoms; and (6) how churches in America can operate totally under God and free from any control by civil government. After graduating from college in 1970 and serving as an army officer in the Viet Nam conflict, Jerald Finney worked for the railroad and then started and operated a photography studio in Fort Worth, Texas. He was saved in 1982. God called him to enter the legal profession. He entered the University of Texas School of Law in 1990, and was licensed to practice law in 1993. This book is the result of his in depth studies of the issue of separation of church and state, the main issue which is addressed by the Biblical Law Center.

Download When A Congregation Is Betrayed books, Other books have been written about clergy misconduct and its effects on congregations. Some are by victims. Others are written by professionals for a professional audience. Until now, however, there hasn't been a book for the congregational leaders who must deal with the fallout of clergy misconduct. Both the afterpastors--the interim or settled pastors who follow misconducting pastors--and lay leaders need guidance about how to assess and effectively respond to the misconduct, how to care for the victim/survivor, and how to carry out the mission and ministry to which the congregation has been called.

When Men Betray by Bob Herbert, Promises Betrayed Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Promises Betrayed books, The award-winning New York Times op-ed columnist probes the widening gap between American ideals and American realities, and urges us to do something about it Bob Herbert is the conscience of the op-ed page of The New York Times, and his work is characterized by a strong moral vision and a deep understanding of the human costs of political decisions. From partisan politics to popular culture, from race relations to criminal justice, few journalists bring to life so movingly the stories of ordinary people caught between the American dream and American realities. Whether it is the inherent injustice of the death penalty or the demagoguery of the war on terrorism, Herbert questions whether we are truly upholding our ideals or merely giving them lip service. In Promises Betrayed, Herbert makes the case that in recent years America has too often failed to live up to its creed of fairness and justice in the lives of working people, racial minorities, children, and others not among the powerful. He introduces us to real people facing real problems and trying to maintain their dignity along the way, and he blows the whistle on imperious public officials who think the rules of common decency do not apply to them. Herbert's tenacious reporting has resulted in the overturning of many wrongful convictions and the release of dozens of innocent people from prison. In these and so many other ways, Herbert keeps us all honest and lives up to the journalist's credo: to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
