Psychotherapy For Families After Brain Injury

by Pamela S. Klonoff, Psychotherapy For Families After Brain Injury Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Psychotherapy For Families After Brain Injury books, Whether caused by illness, accident, or incident, brain injury requires multi-tiered resources for the patient and considerable external care and support. When recovery is sidelined by depression, anger, grief, or turmoil, family members and the support network have critical roles to play and need their own guidance and compassionate therapeutic interventions. Psychotherapy for Families after Brain Injury offers theoretical frameworks and eclectic techniques for working effectively with adult patients and their families at the initial, active and post-treatment phases of rehabilitation. This practical reference clarifies roles and relationships of the support network in interfacing with the loved one and addresses the understandably devastating and sometimes derailing emotions and psychosocial adversities. The content promotes psychoeducation and guided exercises, delineates “helpful hints” and coping tools and proffers multimedia resources to overcome hurdles. Constructs of awareness, acceptance and realism for all parties are woven throughout, along with ideas to enhance the support network’s commitment, adjustment, positivity, hope and longevity. Case excerpts, instructive quotes from caregivers and nuggets of clinical advice assist in analyzing these and other topics in salient detail: The impact of brain injury on different family members. Treatment themes in early family sessions. Family therapy for moderate to severe brain injury, concussion and postconcussion syndrome. Family therapy after organic brain injury: stroke, anoxia, tumor, seizure disorders. Family group treatment during active rehabilitation. End-of-life and existential considerations and positive aspects of care giving. Aftercare group therapy for long-term needs. The hands-on approach demonstrated in Psychotherapy for Families after Brain Injury will enhance the demanding work of a range of professionals, including neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation psychologists, family therapists, marriage and family counselors, psychiatrists, behavioral/mental health counselors, clinical social workers, rehabilitation specialists such as speech-language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, and graduate students in the helping professions.

Representing The Rainbow In Young Adult Literature

by Christine A. Jenkins, Representing The Rainbow In Young Adult Literature Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Representing The Rainbow In Young Adult Literature books, Discussions of gender and sexuality have become part of mainstream conversations and are being reflected in the work of more and more writers of fiction, particularly in literature aimed at young adult audiences. But young readers, regardless of their sexual orientation, don’t always know what books offer well-rounded portrayals of queer characters and situations. Fortunately, finding positive role models in fiction that features LGBTQ+ themes has become less problematic, though not without its challenges. In Representing the Rainbow in Young Adult Literature: LGBTQ+ Content since 1969, Christine Jenkins and Michael Cart provide an overview of the literary landscape. An expanded version of The Heart Has Its Reasons, this volume charts the evolution of YA literature that features characters and themes which resonate not only with LGBTQ+ readers but with their allies as well. In this resource, Jenkins and Cart identify titles that are notable either for their excellence—accurate, thoughtful, and tactful depictions—or deficiencies—books that are wrongheaded, stereotypical, or outdated. Each chapter has been significantly updated, and this edition also includes new chapters on bisexual, transgender, and intersex issues and characters, as well as chapters on comics, graphic novels, and works of nonfiction. This book also features an annotated bibliography and a number of author-title lists of books discussed in the text that will aid teachers, librarians, parents, and teen readers. Encompassing a wider array of sexual identities, Representing the Rainbow in Young Adult Literature is an invaluable resource for young people eager to read about books relevant to them and their lives.

Download Lost Youth Volume 2 books, Lost Youth Volume 2 London is the follow up to the critically acclaimed bestselling novel, `Lost Youth Volume 1 New Zealand`. Here now continues this incredible true life story of one man's life that took him from a lonely prison cell in New Zealand to England bound at the young age of 20 years old. Once in London without knowing anyone and with only the clothes on his back, he campaigned for the next 5 years of his life for the release of the notorious gangland crime boss Reggie Kray from a 30 year prison sentence. What was to come next in the authors life was unexpected as not only did he step straight into the underbelly surroundings of the British underworld, one of the most powerful gangland families in British history, he too was swept into the world of show-business. Starting out in the music industry thanks to the kind hearts of two people, a lovely Irish lady by the name of Eileen Sweeney and an old school Irish gentleman by the name of Vince Power. The author was given work at The Mean Fiddler in Harlesden, which at time was the most famous live music venue in all of the British Isles. He then went on to making a career for himself, going on to working with such names as Michael Jackson, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Tricky, Elton John, Janet Jackson to name only a few that saw this young man take the correct path in life rather than a life of crime. He chooses rock n roll rather than a life spent behind jailed bars. He turned his life around for the better and went onto great heights that could never have been dreamed of. This book will take you on one hell of an adventure but one you will need to hold on tight as there are many shakes, rattles and rolls along the way. It is an inspiration to anyone who has ever suffered or given up on their hopes and dreams. Its what films are made of, Hollywood will be sure to be knocking soon.

The Best Friends In My Life

by Reader John, The Best Friends In My Life Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Best Friends In My Life books, John Young whom we now know is renamed Adam the Lonely joins his extended Family. After a few silent moments, Panther calls out and asks Adam a question. “What does immortal mean?” I answer, “living forever, incorruptible, I suppose.” Hamish calls out, “What’s that actually mean though.” “well, it means our bodies don’t decay or rot, we live forever like we do today in eternity.” “Then Adam, tell us why down on earth do earthlings bother about all the preaching associated with Gods and Deities? Creating fear over sin and all that other stuff like devils and hell, Purgatory, Limbo and the garbage about Angels and Heaven?” I give a big sigh and say, “Gee you guys the questions seem really dark this morning, what’s brought this on?” Panther stares directly into my eyes and says, “We just want to know the truth. You know down on earth animals were not able to talk with an earthling but up here we all speak to each other now that’s weird don’t you think?” I nod in agreement and say, “You know guys when humans first were established on the earth they had no language to communicate with each other and it was the various sounds made by animals that were taken on board with humans and they with a more balanced mind were able to take animal sounds and make words from them. So you see all animals gave to earthling the gift of the gab. It didn’t take long for earthlings to realise that cats and dogs could manipulate earthlings to be their nanny and that hasn’t changed since we came to “The Wilderness Park” we are still your nanny.” “Well then pipes up Panther, we can’t be that thick after all if it is animals who started off language to help earthlings exist.” I nod in agreement.

Download The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas books, "There is no Christmas - at our house There are no lights and no tree There is no Christmas - at our house No Christmas for Teddy and me." -Pip "There is no Christmas at our house. Amelia stole it and shoved it up the chimney." -Teddy NO CHRISTMAS?! What is going on in the Fisher's garage apartment? Where is Christmas? Why does Pip write grumpy songs? Why does Amelia have a phone in her ear all the time? Who is Sunny, and why is Amelia's sister, Evelyn, around so much? But, most important of all, why, days before Christmas, is Molly in the interrogation chair being questioned about Amelia's cancelled wedding? The Best Friends Club gathers to brainstorm; thinking back over several days in order to figure out where things went wrong. Will they be able to save the wedding? Will they be able to bring Christmas to Teddy and Pip? A Tale of Two Guinea Pigs ended with a wedding to look forward to. Though Teddy and Pip were a bit nervous about the concept of their best friends traveling to the moon after the ceremony, they were happy as two talking guinea pigs could be. All was well. Their best friends were all together, and a 'family they would be'. They had no idea (and how could they?) that Amelia, the very Amelia who was their best friend, would transform from her quiet writer self into a bride monster called Bridezilla and turn their world upside down all over again. Molly Jane Fisher, fourth grade detective, finds herself right in the middle of a mystery again. But this time, she truly is an innocent bystander. At least she is pretty sure that this is true. Even if she knew how, she would never have cancelled Amelia and Wally's wedding. For one thing, she wanted them to get married, for another, she would be in so much trouble, but most important of all-she has no idea how to do such a thing anyway. For some reason, though, Amelia, Mom and that scary sister, Evelyn, believed that Molly had done something to cause all of the chaos. And that bad evidence has landed her in the interrogation chair. The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas is a fun story for the Holidays and comes complete with cute talking guinea pigs, new 'bad guys', a puzzle to solve, new songs to sing, and plenty of laughs as Teddy and Pip loudly express opinions on everything from cell phones to lack of Christmas to longstanding traditions such as hanging stockings by the fireplace. LISA MADDOCK, author of A Tale of Two Guinea Pigs, lives in Shakopee, Minnesota (a southwest suburb of Minneapolis) with her husband Bill, daughter Allison, four pampered guinea pigs named Maggie, Peanut, Mimi and Miranda... and a little white mouse with big black spots named Aurora Marie Borealis-Maddock.
