Nobody S Business

by Brian M. Reed, Nobody S Business Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nobody S Business books, Since the turn of the new millennium English-language verse has entered a new historical phase, but explanations vary as to what has actually happened and why. What might constitute a viable avant-garde poetics in the aftermath of such momentous developments as 9/11, globalization, and the financial crisis? Much of this discussion has taken place in ephemeral venues such as blogs, e-zines, public lectures, and conferences. Nobody's Business is the first book to treat the emergence of Flarf and Conceptual Poetry in a serious way. In his engaging account, Brian M. Reed argues that these movements must be understood in relation to the proliferation of digital communications technologies and their integration into the corporate workplace. Writers such as Andrea Brady, Craig Dworkin, Kenneth Goldsmith, Danny Snelson, and Rachel Zolf specifically target for criticism the institutions, skill sets, and values that make possible the smooth functioning of a postindustrial, globalized economy. Authorship comes in for particular scrutiny: how does writing a poem differ in any meaningful way from other forms of "content providing"? While often adept at using new technologies, these writers nonetheless choose to explore anachronism, ineptitude, and error as aesthetic and political strategies. The results can appear derivative, tedious, or vulgar; they can also be stirring, compelling, and even sublime. As Reed sees it, this new generation of writers is carrying on the Duchampian practice of generating antiart that both challenges prevalent definitions or art and calls into question the legitimacy of the institutions that define it.

Blue Butterfly

by Ray Bates, Blue Butterfly Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Blue Butterfly books, Imagine this scenario: one day you walk into a post office, and on the wall displaying missing children, you see a picture of Jesus! The President of the United States has put out an all-points bulletin to begin a massive search to find him. Jesus hasn't been seen in our schools or in any public place for several years now, and the concern is widening. The sad thing is, it isn't Jesus who is lost, but America. And the author didn't want his own children and grandchildren to be among the people lost in the crowd. In an age of information-overload, we need more information on the things that really matter. However, there is also good news. The Christ-child can still be found "in his Father's house," where he's always been. You just have to know where to look. And you can also look in this little book. Its purpose is to help give you a "map" leading you to Jesus' present location, and to introduce you to the One you've been missing.

A Butterfly In Flame

by Nicholas Kilmer, A Butterfly In Flame Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download A Butterfly In Flame books, Stillton Academy, a small art college on the New England coast north of Boston, is in financial trouble, and its days are numbered unless someone provides extraordinary help. The final straw may be the sudden disappearance of an instructor with a female student, daughter of the Academy’s only significant donor. Fred Taylor, called in to trouble-shoot, goes undercover as a member of the faculty and shortly finds himself enmeshed in the conflicting motives and designs of faculty and students, as well as those of a board of trustees whose interest in the long-term survival of the operation seems lazy, misguided or – perhaps – a good deal more sinister. Meanwhile, as the town of Stillton, Massachusetts, is visited by murder, the motives of Fred’s employer, the collector Clayton Reed, remain obscure. What is there in the town, or at the college, that whets his acute acquisitive instincts? He will not say, beyond his hermetic instructions, “Trust no one. Look at everything.” And everyone. Fred’s assignment takes him to the Life Room, where his students sometimes moonlight as life models. Are his temporary colleagues on the faculty eccentrics or just artists? Clayton Reed collects art. That’s what he lives for. In sleepy Stillton, a town ripe for development, though suspiciously backward and unexploited, what hidden treasure is Clayton hoping for? And can Fred find it before the college goes up in flames?

Nobody S Laughing

by Jeffrey Arnold, Nobody S Laughing Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nobody S Laughing books, The author takes us on a raucous journey into the life and mind of Richard Bonhom. He is a post modern portrait of success despite his failed marriage, delinquent drug addicted daughter and looming financial scandal at work. The story takes place in a one week period preceding Bonhom's fiftieth birthday. A growing discomfort at facing this turning point in his life, and the urgent need to make things right, are the driving forces motivating his desperate search for some form of salvation. These issues force him to dig deep, hold on, and take stock. This serious, but often hilarious, search for meaning and purpose to Richard's world takes the reader along an almost satirical path filled with interesting and often outrageous characters. The setting is Vancouver, Canada. The time is now. When we look out at the world around us, and within us, through the eyes of Richard Bonhom, we inevitably see ourselves, and more importantly, what truly matters in our lives.

Convinced that her visions of a wisp-thin girl with blood dripping from her hands are omens, the old woman calls on her nephew, Charlie Moon. Moon, a part-time tribal investigator and full-time Colorado rancher, is skeptical, but he knows better than to dismiss his quarrelsome aunt too quickly. After all, she has been right before. But what can he do? Although Daisy can see what's left of a dying man's face, she can't get a clear look at the girl's. Without that, Moon doesn't have anything to go on. Then he gets a call about a very real murder. Sarah Frank, an Ute-Papago orphan and daughter of Moon's childhood friend, was spotted standing over the battered body with blood on her hands. Moon and FBI Special Agent Lila Mae McTeague cross the border to investigate, but they're too late. The Sun On My Head

by Geovani Martins, The Sun On My Head Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Sun On My Head books, The Sun On My Head is a collection of thirteen short stories set in Rio's largest favela, Rocinha. The collection gravitates around the childhoods and teenage years of boys who, in spite of having to deal with the anguish and difficulties inherent to their age, also struggle with the violence involved in growing up on the less favoured side of the 'Broken City'. In stories such as 'Flash Mob', a group of teenagers goes to the beach in the summer of 2015, a time marked by Rio's military police presence, allegedly aimed at discouraging organized gang looting. In 'Fr. Miguel Station, a group of friends find themselves staring down the barrels of militia semi-automatics, while in 'Russian Roulette', the routine of some children in Bangu is sent into a spin by the appearance of a revolver. This is a spellbinding debut about masculinity, corruption, guilt, poverty and resilience. Martins boasts superb mastery of both form and storytelling; this story collection is completely of our time yet promises to be profoundly timeless.

She smelled her way through the spices for a good cake and made muffins and bread as tasty as the baker at your favorite bakery. She didn't see with her eyes but she saw with her fingers, her ears, nose and if all else failed, her taste buds.
