Global Corporations And National Governments

by Edward Graham, Global Corporations And National Governments Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Global Corporations And National Governments books, There is inherent tension between the increasingly global focus of foreign investors and the continuing national focus of governments. Countries, particularly developing ones, compete to attract investment from global corporations, and they attach performance requirements to tilt the impact of those investments in their favor. This is because the host nations expect investment to raise growth levels, efficiency, and living standards. At the same time, the home countries of such corporations worry that their firms are not accorded fair and reciprocal treatment abroad. These issues have become a source of conflict among nations, one that could escalate considerably if an agreement is not soon reached. Graham's study analyzes the nature and depth of the international investment problem and its potential impact on the world economy and on economic relations among nations. He urges that current rules on foreign direct investment be enlarged and restructured via new international rules and institutional arrangements and offers two alternatives for doing so.

Multinational Corporation And Third World Development

by Dingha Ngoh Fobete, Multinational Corporation And Third World Development Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Multinational Corporation And Third World Development books, Research Paper from the year 2005 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, grade: 2, University of Kassel, 22 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Multinational Corporations (MNC) are important transitional agents in the contemporary global political economy. Although they can be viewed as economic actors following the logic of international market, their activities inevitably arouse questions of national power. Not surprisingly, such questions are most pronounced in the study of developing countries where weak government and societies potentially give the MNC strong bargaining position. Thus, the nature of their relationship between developing countries and the implication of this relationship for economic growth remains highly controversial. How ever, proponents of MNC posit in the past that MNC have made important contribution to developing countries. This interaction between MNCs and third world economy has led to a profound relationship whose impacts are enormous. Although many scholars have written more on the impact of MNC on host less developed countries, the most important question is, Do foreign firms behave differently from locally owned firms and if so what are their implication? Multinational corporations are one of the main conduits through which investment is channelled and their evolution has reflected broader developments (OECD 2003). This impact however will be examined from the negative and positive impact gearing towards the development of third world. However it is imperative to examine the characteristics of developing countries as well as some objectives of Multinational Corporations (MNC).

Policy And Political Theory In Trade Practice

by Nikolay Anguelov, Policy And Political Theory In Trade Practice Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Policy And Political Theory In Trade Practice books, Trade liberalization policies have changed the assumptions of economic theory because they have changed the core definition of its concepts-imports and exports. When most trade is done in components rather than finished goods, how do we assign nationaility to value added during the production process? Anguelov analyzes foreign direct investment (FDI) as the core tool behind the internationalization of the production function. He tracks the changing nature of incentives in location and diversification of multinational corporations (MNCs), as well as the role governements have in the creation and implementation of trade policies that impact MNC investments.

Multinational Enterprises And Government Intervention Rle International Business

by Thomas A Poynter, Multinational Enterprises And Government Intervention Rle International Business Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Multinational Enterprises And Government Intervention Rle International Business books, Government intervention can reduce the profits of multinational enterprises. These interventions also increase uncertainty and risk and distort trading and intra-firm sourcing patterns. The focus of this book is a corporate survival plan that describes how a multinational can monitor its exposure to intervention and then seek to reduce it. It reports on the successes and failures of firms as they implement various global management systems and recommends a general strategy. Such a strategy will allow multinationals to continue foreign investment with the longer term horizons that will benefit both the firms and their host countries.

Globalisation Global Corporations And Global Government

by Gholamhossein Davani, Globalisation Global Corporations And Global Government Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Globalisation Global Corporations And Global Government books, The purpose of this book is to critical power of multinational corporations those control politic, education system, wages and government. Multinational corporations (MNCs) are an economic, political, environmental and cultural force that is unavoidable in today's globalized world. The powerful managers within multinationals, whose decisions affect thousands of workers, national economic, the environment and more, are not elected. New larger governmental institutions need to exist that can regulate business more widely, and therefore empower democracy .The heads of large companies have massive power over staff, employment, industry, national economies and the environment and yet are not elected nor publicly accountable for their actions. Supra-national organizations, staffed by those on the payroll of elected governments, empower democracy with renewed control.

Das Kapital Des Staates

by Mariana Mazzucato, Das Kapital Des Staates Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.
