Fintech Regulation In China

by Robin Hui Huang, Fintech Regulation In China Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Fintech Regulation In China books, This is the first book-length treatment of the regulation of financial technology (Fintech) in China. Fintech brings about paradigm changes to the traditional financial system, presenting both challenges and opportunities. At the international level, there has been a fierce competition for the coveted title of global Fintech hub. One of the key enablers of success in this race is regulation. As the world's leader in Fintech, China's regulatory experience is of both academic and practical significance. This book presents a systematic and contextualized account of China's Fintech regulation, and in doing so, tries to identify and analyze relevant institutional factors contributing to the development of the Chinese law. It also takes a comparative approach to critically evaluating the Chinese experience. The book illustrates why and how China's Fintech regulation has been developed, if and how it differs from the rest of the world, and what can be learned from the Chinese experience.

Regulating Fintech In Asia

by Mark Fenwick, Regulating Fintech In Asia Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Regulating Fintech In Asia books, This book focuses on Fintech regulation in Asian, situating local developments in broader economic, regulatory and technological contexts. Over the last decade, Fintech – broadly defined as the use of new information technologies to help financial institutions and intermediaries compete in the marketplace – has disrupted the financial services sector. Like other 21st century technological developments, Fintech is a global phenomenon that plays out in local economic, political and regulatory contexts, and this dynamic interplay between global trends and local circumstances has created a complex and fast-changing landscape. Diverse stakeholders (most obviously incumbent financial service providers, tech start-ups and regulators) all pursue a competitive edge against a background of profound uncertainty about the future direction and possible effects of multiple emerging technologies. Compounding these difficulties are uncertainties surrounding regulatory responses. Policymakers often struggle to identify appropriate regulatory responses and increasingly turn to policy experimentation. Such issues add to the challenges for the various actors operating in the Fintech space. This situation is particularly fluid in Asia, since many jurisdictions are seeking to establish themselves as a regional hub for new financial services.

Blockchain And Coken Economics

by Dong Yang, Blockchain And Coken Economics Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Blockchain And Coken Economics books, Blockchain technology is one of the most popular technologies in the recent decade. In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto published a paper entitled Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. This paper was the starting point of this technology. As of 2017, it has been nine years since blockchain’s development. During these years, blockchain has gradually developed toward industrialization from the initial technology boom. Although cryptocurrency and virtual currency transactions represented by Bitcoin fell to the bottom from the peak period of speculation in 2014, the investment of the relevant industries of blockchain in the world still rose gradually. With the deepening commercialization, the application of blockchain has been pervasive and has involved the financial sector and many other fields other than finance. Blockchain technology has revolutionized our day-to-day lives, and mass adoption of decentralized technology is predicted to happen shortly. This book has carried out valuable research in the provision of laws, rules, and systems in financial technology to make up for the shortcomings of existing research. At the same time, the book provides a large number of cases to explain how blockchain will fall, as well as the possible legal issues in landing. Blockchain and tokenomics are legal monographs in the blockchain industry that bridge the gaps in the legal reference of current blockchain business practices. This book will enable blockchain investors, blockchain entrepreneurs, and blockchain application explorers to understand the current and future practices of blockchain applications in a more transparent, more intuitive, and more comprehensive way by knowing the existing legal oversight and the future possibilities under the supervision of the work of blockchain.

Chasing Subprime Credit

by Joe Zhang, Chasing Subprime Credit Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Chasing Subprime Credit books, In China, credit is booming, so is subprime credit. Instead of disrupting the banks, fintech is energizing the subprime credit sector while helping the banks. It is a chaotic scene, causing headaches to the government and much harm to investors and borrowers alike. The regulatory stance is full of intrigue. But things are not all negative. If fintech can enable all subprime borrowers to access credit cheaply, safely, and cost-effectively, all the chaos and trouble will have been worthwhile. For decades, China’s subprime sector has been the plumber for the banks. Fintech is now adding some sharp tools. If the two can work together well, the banks will be much safer, and more profitable. This book explains how the major players are doing it, and why there are risks and rewards for us all. Third Party Funding For Dispute Resolution

by Beibei Zhang, Third Party Funding For Dispute Resolution Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Third Party Funding For Dispute Resolution books, This book represents a comparative study of Third Party Funding (TPF) and its regulation in England, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Netherlands and the Mainland of China. It provides a general review of the background in which TPF grows and the platform where third party funders are allowed to operate. In each and every chosen jurisdiction, the book analyses the legal risks related to TPF, the regulatory measures and the questions surrounding the challenges that lay ahead. This book is featured by the empirical study of the Chinese TPF market. As of the time of this writing, TPF activities operating in China have not been expanded upon in English or Chinese literature. The language barrier may be one reason. The lack of empirical materials may also contribute to this situation. In order to obtain some first-hand evidence of the TPF market in China, the author conducted empirical research in Shenzhen, with the assistance of Chinese third party funders and some local organizations and authorities. The empirical study took the form of questionnaire surveys. The first survey saw in total 175 responses, and the second saw 18 responses. Due to the fact that many funding arrangements for commercial disputes are kept in the dark, it is hard, if not impossible, to measure the size of the Chinese TPF market. This study provides a dataset that serves a humble purpose; namely to offer an insight into the Chinese TPF market, rather than to grasp the full picture of the industry.

Private Lending In China

by Lerong Lu, Private Lending In China Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Private Lending In China books, This book explores China’s private lending market from historical, economic, legal, and regulatory perspectives. Private lending refers to moneylending agreements between business borrowers and their debt investors without the involvement of banks. In China, it remains difficult for private entrepreneurs to obtain sufficient loans from state-owned banks. Thus, private lending has been a vital alternative financing channel for over 80 million businesses which are reliant on private funds as their major source of operating capital. The market volume of private financing stands at 5 trillion yuan ($783bn), making it one of the largest shadow banking systems in the world. Despite the wide popularity and systemic importance of private lending activities, they have remained outside of the official regulatory framework, leading to extra financial risks. In 2011, China’s private lending sector encountered a severe financial crisis, as thousands of business borrowers failed to repay debts and fell into bankruptcy. Lots of bosses who found it impossible to liquidate debts ran away to hide from creditors. The financial turmoil has caused substantial monetary losses for investors across the country, which triggered social unrest and undermined the financial stability. This book is a timely work intended to demystify China’s private lending market by investigating its historical development, operating mechanism, and special characteristics. It evaluates the causes and effects of the latest financial crisis by considering a number of real cases relating to helpless investors and runaway bosses. It conducts an in-depth doctrinal analysis of Chinese laws and regulations regarding private lending transactions. It also examines China’s ongoing financial reform to bring underground lending activities under official supervision. Finally, the book points out future development paths for the private lending market. It offers suggestions for global policymakers devising an effective regulatory framework for shadow banking. It appeals to researchers, lecturers, and students in several fields, including law, business, finance, political economy, public policy, and China study.

Crowdfunding In China

by Andrea S. Funk, Crowdfunding In China Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Crowdfunding In China books, China is currently the front-runner on the global crowdfunding market, even though this form of financing originated in the USA. Crowdfunding in China, however, differs significantly from its counterpart in the West. This book reveals that Chinese crowdfunding is a product of the country’s dynamic internet sector, which is based on mobile internet, e-commerce, and online/mobile payments, together with significant government support. The author presents a comprehensive theoretical, empirical and field-based work on crowdfunding in China. Adopting a new institutional economics approach, it maps and deciphers the origins and paths of informal finance that have led to internet finance and the rise of crowdfunding platforms. In addition, three case studies are analyzed and their implications for crowdfunding stakeholders in China are discussed.

Fintech Bigtech And Banks

by Alessandra Tanda, Fintech Bigtech And Banks Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Fintech Bigtech And Banks books, This Palgrave Pivot analyses the evolution of strategies and business models adopted by financial operators that employ technological solutions to deliver financial products and services. The analysis is performed on a proprietary dataset built on different sources that highlight important differences in strategical approaches taken by FinTech companies, TechFin and BigTech, and banks (traditional and digital native). For each type, the authors underline their distinctive patterns, strengths and weaknesses. The main focus of the analysis in on the European market that is investigated also in the light of the difference and similarities with other markets (such as US and China). The unbundling and re-bundling of productive processes in finance, the treatment of information and the level of innovation in the customer relationship highlight the intense change that the banking activities of new financial services providers are currently dealing with, especially the retail segment. Despite the main international banks’ implementation of innovative strategical approaches to take advantage of the digitalization of business and cope with competition, so far the level of the disruption brought by FinTech is not fully understood or widespread. This holds especially true for the smaller banks: the latter need to take a proactive approach to individuate a business model able to satisfy the new customer needs and the competitive pressure that are destined to increase and further evolve. This book addresses this and would appeal to academics, researchers and students of banking, FinTech and financial innovation alongside policy makers, regulatory authorities, FinTechs and banks.
