“Thief in the Night” (POEM) – an Ode to COVID19

The way we love
The way we move
The way we live has been compromised
This world don’t feel the same
At times, I wonder if we are living in the last days
Isolation got us going insane
We can’t hug
Kiss or simply touch
Without the fear that we might lose our life
Who would have thought we might see this in our lifetime?
Pain from within,
It hurts to think
We cling close to our families
From six feet away…
Doctors risk it all
While the government does too little too late
But I refuse to frown
The way we live
Might be forever changed
But as long as I am here
I choose to pray
And smile
And dream of better days
